Marques de Riscal (Rueda)

Marques de Riscal, initiator of top-quality wine production in Rioja and Ruede decided to embark on a venture, having created a very expressive wine beyond Rioja D. O. area. That wine was created in full freedom as to production technology, but with the use of Tempranillo only from the best sites and vines, planted and grown on gravelly soils of kwelders in Duero region. This variety generates very aromatic, full-bodied wines with deep colour, excellent structure, fresh and intensive.  Harvesting is carried out only on permission of Riscal technical department. Only absolutely ripe grapes adequately exposed to sunlight are harvested into 18-kg containers to avoid any damage.

Marques de Riscal are at the lead in Spanish winemaking sector for a century and a half by now. Products of this company are available in the markets of 70 countries world-wide. In 1858 Marques de Riscal was the first in Rioja to produce wines according to Bordeaux method.  In 1972 it gained the right to indicate “Rueda Designation of Origin” on its labels.

The most popular around-Spain Guide of Madrid the CAMPSA, 2007 called Frank Gehry Selection Reserva 2001 and Baron de Chirel Reserva 2002  produced by Marques de Riscal the best wines of Spain. The CAMPSA marks out 7 other producers from Rioja, of which Marques de Riscal has the greatest number of wine awards.

Marques de Riscal wines are among Тop 40 wines of Spain. Over long years these wines score 95—100 at blind tastings. The Company carried out crop yield control and hand-harvesting.  Paul Pontallier from Chateaux Margaux was invited as winemaking consultant. Marques de Riscal built the City of Wine, a colossal project, which brought in a new era in the world of wine.
