Sambuca Manzoni (Germany)

Sambuca is made with bourtree berries extract, aniseeds and, quite rarely, lemon concentrate. General base of the drink includes: aqua, neutral spirits and some sugar. Normally the portion of alcohol in Sambuca is ranging around 38-42% vol.

According to a legend, the berries of bourtree gave the drink its name. In Latin  bourtree is called Sambucus Nigra.

There is, however, another legend saying that bourtree berries occasionally got into the tank containing aniseed liquor. This resulted in the palate highly estimated by experts. Since then bourtree berries have been always added to the formula of Sambuca.
