Bodegas Valduero (Ribera del Duego)

In Valduero winery founded in 1984 in the province of Burgos, they made a religion of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo). 200 ha of vineyards in Gumiel del Mercado are fully “devoted” to this variety. Winery founder Gregorio Garcia-Viadero   believes that Tempranillo is the best suited variety for making fine wines. It is for that reason that Valduero focused exclusively on making top-quality wines like Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva. With a special wine upbringing philosophy established in Valduero this traditional Spanish “aboriginal” discloses sometimes very surprising features of its character.

The whole family Garcia-Viadero is involved into winery management.  And Grigorio’s elder daughter Yolanda is the chief winemaker of the company. She gained recognition among the best Spanish wigmakers despite all stereotypes.

Tinto Fino of Valduero is a long-aged wine with strong character, disclosing a wide flavour palette and leaving a trail of deep impressions. In Ribera del Duego this variety is used only as a compliment to Tinto Fino. But in Valduero they created a “solo” Albillo named after Garcia Viadero. This is extremely mild wine, fragrant in sweet fruity flavors, overturns stereotype about neutral character of Albillo.
