Bodega Zuccardi

We are a family company founded in 1963 by Engineer Alberto Zuccardi. In those times, he began planting vines in Maipú (province of Mendoza), experimenting with an irrigation system of his own creation based on a method used in California. Forty five years after the starting point of this path, there are three generations joined by a passion for wine. In September 2007, the prestigious magazine DECANTER acknowledged José Alberto and Sebastián Zuccardi as being among the five most influential personalities of Argentine Wine. The equipment of our winery allows for the optimization of the necessary resources in wine production along the lines of our quality policy. Technology is present in the process from the very beginning to the very end. We cultivate more than 800 ha of vineyards in the Mendocinian districts of Vista Flores, Altamira, La Consulta, Maipú, and Santa Rosa. At present, 35% of these vineyards are organic certified and in the rest of them sustainable production systems are used. Our wines are characterized for their quality level and modern style. We are the only winery of its type in Argentina having an experiential area in which 35 new varieties of wines are developed. Thanks to this constant innovation work, the winery has successfully introduced wines created out of non traditional grape varieties in Argentina. Thus, Familia Zuccardi is highly acknowledged as being a pioneer in the production of varietal wines such as: Tempranillo, Bonarda; Viognier; Caladoc, Marselán and Ancellotta. Moreover, the first late harvest wine of Argentina –Santa Julia Tardío– and the first fortified Malbec wine –Malamado– were developed in the winery. In 1999, with the presentation of Zuccardi Q Tempranillo, we were the first Argentinean winery to produce a Premium wine out of a nontraditional variety of grapes in our country. At present, enologists at our winery are researching on the quality potential of other absolutely unknown varieties to the Argentinean consumer such as Agliánico, Arinarnoa, Ekigaina, Malvasia Nera, Nero Amaro and Nero Dávola, among others. The constant search for being recognized as a company which bases all its decisions and production and commercialization processes upon a respect for the soil, the air, the flora and fauna, and the whole community, has made Familia Zuccardi to focus towards sustainable agriculture, coexisting with nature without damaging it. We keep a comprehensive waste recycling policy and we incorporate the use of alternative energy sources to the production systems.
