Abtei Himmerod

Cistercian Abbey Abtei Himmerod, founded by Bernhard von Clairvaux, is located in the Berkastel-Wittlich district of the Eifel, on the edge of the Mosel wine region. The abbey was built in 1134, was significantly destroyed during the two world wars, was rebuilt in 1962. Among the buildings dominated by the Baroque church, which is popular with all visitors. Today ten monks live in the monastery, which complement their religious activities with work in the museum, restaurant and guest house.
