Cana Caribia Rum (Guyana)

No wonder that islands of the Caribbean are the homeland of rum. Sugar cane and molasses  – the leftovers of cane sugar manufacture – have been thought up to produce the drink. Rum initially was called the “Barbados Aqua”, however, it was given the name “rum” by British sailors.

Rum was manufactured both in the islands of the Caribbean and in the South American continental colonies. Guyana, one of the colonies located in the North-Eastern part of the  South American continent, is located on the banks of the Demerara , the third biggest river of South America.

Large manufacturers of Guyana Rum use the double-distillation method. Such drink usually contains quite a few impurities, that is why it is aged in oak barrels which provides for smoother and milder palate.
